Huron University Ornament
Celebrate Huron with an beautiful ornament celebrating the original Huron building as viewed from Western rd.
Established in 1863 by Anglican clergyman, Benjamin Cronyn (first Bishop of Huron), it is the founding institution of Western University and one of Canada's oldest universities. Originally situated on a tract of land bounded by Grosvenor, St. George, and St. James Street, it moved to its current location in 1951. Cherished centerpiece of this university is The Chapel of St. John the Evangelist; gift of the Cronyn family. This magnificent edifice was designed by London architect, Oliver Roy Moore.
The Chapel is open to the entire community, regardless of background or faith. While the Chapel also serves as a parish of the Diocese of Huron, it fosters Huron University's commitment to the liberal arts, ethics-based learning, theology and cultivating a tight-knit community.
